Fragrance is a friend to a woman. Her scent tells a story, as she converses with associates and acquaintances. And her choice of perfumes is many. But which one is right for you?

It is a popular belief that the sense of smell for a man is much different than that of a woman. So, it goes without saying that something that may smell wonderful to you, may not be very appealing to your boyfriend or spouse.

You should, perhaps, choose a fragrance together. It may get a bit confusing in the department store, with all the other scents in the air. And a sales person will be happy to give you a collection of samples of all sorts of different perfumes for you to try at home.

Try to get at least five from the sales person, so that you can try a different one for every day of your work week. And every time you spray or dab one on, let your significant other get a whiff of it, and watch his immediate reaction. When you come across one that pleases you both, this is the one you should purchase.

A perfume may be sweet and fruity, and it may have a very young style to it. Or it may be too severe and overwhelming. If it actually pains your nostrils a bit, it is probably not the one for you. Then there is the subtle scent, the one that is barely in the air as you move through it. It is the one that will get the attention of different people as you walk through a crowd. It is the one that will get attention, and present a pleasant surprise.

Do not let a name brand fool you. Just because the bottle names a movie star or the name of a famous line of perfumes, it does not mean that it is right for you. It may not mean that it is right for anyone. And yet it will probably sell because of the name. Trust your sense of smell. Try a brand you may never have thought you would like, because you do not like the wrapper. You may be pleased at what you smell.

The name of the brand usually has nothing to do with the scent. Perfumes are made of various items that would never get mentioned in the name of it. Just try a different scent each day for a few days. You will see that you keep going back to one of them because it pleases your sense of smell so much. If your spouse also likes, it, this is the one for you.
